Guidelines for the Iti Art Sale 2022
Featherston Community Centre is thrilled to be gifting the future of Wairarapa’s Iti Exhibition & Art Sale to Fareham Creative Space, a non-profit organisation helping to grow creativity in Pae Tū Mokai, Featherston.
Registrations for the Iti Exhibition opened early December 2021 and Fareham Creative Space is accepting registrations.
The registration costs just $20 for between 1-4 small wooden boards to enter into the Exhibition (postponed from March 2022).
NEW DATE STILL TO BE ANNOUNCED!
Iti will follow the tried-and-true format where artists are invited to create a series of small new works for exhibition, to be held at Fareham Creative Space.
We are expanding Iti to include young artists. This provides an opportunity for all artists in the Pae Tū Mokai, Featherston community and greater Wairarapa community to visually express themselves and to view themselves; both as an individual and as a community.
Lockdown and the ongoing pandemic have produced challenges for us all, as well as the opportunity to re-evaluate what is important to us.
Fareham Creative Space’s Iti project speaks to this experience, reassuring us about the little things, re-evaluating how we work, what we do, and the importance of working together as a community. Previous participants can further explore the concept of space and confinement in the context of the rapidly changing pandemic social landscape.
This project enables all our artists to put their creative stamp on what this looks like for them. This art project direct experience is enhanced using individual, small scale works which invite the viewer and artist to engage with the works up close and personal. Being displayed anonymously incites immediate responses from the viewer which are derived from the pieces rather than prior knowledge. Uniform presentation highlights the individual works and having a standard affordable price allows accessibility for all artists and collectors but as always in a size that is easy for someone else to fall in love with!
Opening night celebration
Iti will be held at Fareham Creative Space, 80 Underhill Road, Featherston.
Just like Iti’s predecessors, Fareham Creative Space promises a fabulous showcase of Wairarapa talent, from established professional artists to first-time exhibitors. Adult artists will be invited to submit between one - four works; and under 16-year-olds a single work.
Iti will continue to feature the “cash & carry” solution, where all works on sale will be $150. With $50 (1/3) of all sales will be donated to Fareham Creative Space, a non-profit organisation. This money will help the creative space to provide workshops, open studio and other events to our community.
Open studio days
Artists will be encouraged to take advantage of the 'Open Studio' sessions at Fareham Creative Space on Tues, Thurs and Fri between 10am and 3pm and an extra session on Friday evenings from 3.30 - 7.30pm.
These sessions can provide guidance, skill building and connection. Helpful for new artists, people who need more support or those with limited space and/or resources.
To foster creativity with young emerging artists for the first time Iti will be offering iti - small works youth section for under 16-year-olds supporting them with workshops. The youth’s art works will be hung together in the iti section of the Iti exhibition and sold for $60 with $20 (1/3) going to Fareham Creative Space.
Fareham Creative Space will collaborate with care givers and schools to provide a venue, and workshops, to support the young artists.
Interested and able youth will be welcomed to volunteer, curate, and hang the collective work.

A small registration fee of $20 adults $5 youth applies. Each artist then picks up or receives a set number of 200x200 boards upon which they will do their magic! Wairarapa artists and artists with a connection to the Wairarapa are invited to submit artwork to Fareham Creative Space.
